Operation Warm Partners with IGS to Help Donate New Coats to Kids in Need

Operation warm and IGS Donate Coats to Kids in Need

CLEVELAND, Ohio, October 17, 2018 – Operation Warm, a non-profit organization that provides brand new winter coats to children in need, has partnered with IGS Energy, a local natural gas and electricity supplier, to donate 350 coats to kids at Bolton Elementary School, today. Together, the two companies will be on site at 9803 Quebec Avenue, Cleveland, OH, 44106, helping the kids select a coat of their choosing. Over the next several weeks IGS will host donation events in a variety of cities, including Pittsburgh; Chicago; Harrisburg, PA; Columbus, OH; and Cincinnati.
Since 2014, IGS Energy has donated 17,500 brand new winter coats to children in need through their partnership with Operation Warm. This year, IGS plans to surpass its goal of donating 13,000 coats through their Bundle Up campaign.

“When a current or new customer ‘bundles’ two or more products together, we make a donation to Operation Warm to help children stay warm this season,” said Rob Ham, vice president of residential sales for IGS.

IGS donations to Operation Warm are used to manufacture and provide new coats for kids in need. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Operation Warm has found that giving new winter coats as opposed to used clothing can boost children’s self-esteem and peer acceptance, as well as increase school attendance and outdoor play. The organization primarily serves children ages three to 13, and together—with select non-profit and community organizations—they identify children who qualify to receive new coats.

“Operation Warm’s goal is to serve our 3 millionth child by winter,” states Kirsten Bradley, associate director of partnerships for Operation Warm. “Over the past four years, we’ve been able to serve more children and get closer to this achievement because of IGS’ passion and generosity. We look forward to working with them for many more years to come.”
