IGS Energy Partners with Operation Warm to Donate New Coats to Highland Elementary School Students

IGS Energy and Operation Warm Passing out Coats at Highland Elementary

Dublin, OH, December 19, 2016 – Employees of IGS Energy, a leading independent natural gas and electricity supplier, recently visited Columbus City Schools’ Highland Elementary as part of its annual support of Operation Warm, a Philadelphia-based non-profit dedicated to providing new coats to kids in need.

A total of 50 employees volunteered at the event, sorting coats and assisting more than 300 K-5 students make their selections.

“It’s great to work for a company that places such an emphasis on giving back. Spending the day playing a role in supporting Central Ohio students was truly inspiring,” said Brian Panwala, home energy consultant team lead at IGS Energy.

IGS Energy’s donations to Operation Warm over the past three years have contributed to more than 2,700 new coats being provided to kids in need throughout the energy supplier’s service footprint.

“A new winter coat can be more than a coat. It can tell a child who has so little, ‘You’re worth it,’ and help build self-esteem, school attendance, and outdoor play,” said Kirsten Bradley, associate director of corporate partnerships for Operation Warm.

About Operation Warm

Operation Warm is a national nonprofit organization empowering children in need by providing them brand new winter coats. Our organization was born in 1998 when the first 58 coats were donated by our founder, Dick Sanford. Since then, millions of children have received brand new coats as a result of communities united, working together to improve the lives of children living in poverty by giving them a fundamental life necessity: warmth. Each year, we create a new line of winter coats in updated styles and colors to ensure that Operation Warm coats become the pride and joy of children who rarely feel the emotions connected to receiving a brand new piece of clothing.

For a child, a brand new winter coat can be #morethanacoat. Give to Operation Warm or start your own fundraiser at www.operationwarm.org.
