Dublin, OH, November 2, 2016 – IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio energy supplier IGS Energy, announced that it recently presented a $10,000 donation to the I Have a Dream Rescue Organization (IHADRO), an all-volunteer based non-profit focused on responsible ownership of pit bulls, on Friday, October 28 at the company’s headquarters.
IHADRO, which relies on a network of foster families and donations to rescue dogs in need, received the donation based on a majority vote of IGS employees as part of the company’s second “Make an Impact” campaign. In September, employees were invited to submit essays nominating deserving non-profits making a difference in communities throughout the company’s service footprint.
Melissa Sutherland, a supervisor in the energy supplier’s Solutions Center and an active IHADRO volunteer, was one of the employees who nominated the organization. “Along with advocacy and awareness work, our main focus is rescuing dogs off death row and places them in foster homes until they are adopted. I currently foster dogs [with IHADRO] and it is the most rewarding experience,” she explained.
Jen Bowden, director of community investment at IGS said, “In total, we received 76 nominations this year. The personal testimonials provided by employees were so inspiring that in addition to the I Have a Dream donation, we were excited to also give an additional $21,300 to the other nominated organizations.”
Donations were issued from the company’s community investment program known as IGS Impact. The program’s mission is to create positive social change through philanthropy, volunteerism, and partnerships in the areas of: energy sustainability, social enterprise and entrepreneurship, and causes that matter to employees, often in the human services category.
IGS is a leader in the energy industry advocating for an engaged society seeking positive change in the way customers manage and consume our energy resources.
