IGS Energy to Sponsor 2016 Buddy Walk
Dublin, OH, September 26, 2016 – IGS Energy is honored to be presenting sponsor of the 15th annual Columbus Buddy Walk, hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO). The event will be held rain or shine on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus. Registration begins at 9 a.m. EDT and the walk begins at 10 a.m. EDT.
The Columbus Buddy Walk typically draws more than 6,500 walkers annually. Funds raised from the event are used to provide support to Central Ohio families, such as recreational scholarships, educational conferences, and information for expectant or new parents of a baby diagnosed with Down syndrome. About Buddy Walk®
The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
The event has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to nearly 300 walks planned for 2016 worldwide. In 2015, more than $14 million was raised nationwide to support local programs and services, as well as national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
