IGS Lead Investor of Columbus 2016 "GiveBackHack" Social Enterprise Event

IGS Named No. 1 Columbus CEO Top Workplaces

Dublin, OH, February 10, 2016 – IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio energy supplier IGS Energy, a residential and commercial energy supplier, announced that they are serving as lead investor of the Columbus 2016 GiveBackHack, taking place February 19-21. This three-day event allows members of the community to pitch ideas and develop technology-based solutions to benefit the community. This is the second year for GiveBackHack, which is designed to help local residents fuel their passion for social entrepreneurship.

Participants will work in teams over one weekend to help launch promising ideas aimed at solving a social problem.  The event concludes with teams pitching their project plan to a panel of judges, who allocate the $15,000 award to the top team(s). Employees from IGS will also participate.

Jen Bowden, IGS’ director of community investment said, “Supporting social enterprise through GiveBackHack aligns with IGS’ value of innovation and our core belief that enterprise itself can be an engine for changing the world.”

Last year, the winners of GiveBackHack included Billion, a crowdfunding system using a tournament-style approach to support social causes; Carry Me Forward, an organization that donates bags to children in foster care for each one purchased; and Abe’s Kitchen, a food truck offering balanced meals on a dollar menu to serve those affected by food insecurity in Columbus.
